Teriyaki Flank Steak

Ingredients:

11/2 lbs lean flank steak
2 teaspoons ginger root (minced)
4 medium size garlic cloves (minced)
4 tablespoons brown sugar
4 tablespoons liquid hickory smoke
1 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup dry white table wine


Preparation:

Prepare marinade: In a large deep pan mix soy sauce, wine, brown sugar, ginger, garlic and liquid smoke.

Prepare meat: Trim all excess fat from flank steak, remove thin layer of fat from backside of meat using a fillet knife. Using a meat tenderizer or back of carving knife to pound steak. Place steak into marinade for 6 - 8 hours. Do not discard marinade.

Cook in Broiler or on Grill turning only once until each side is seared. Meat should be cooked until medium rare to medium for best flavor.



Onions

Ingredients:

1 large yellow onion (sliced)
1 tablespoon butter


Preparation:

While cooking steak, saute' sliced onions with butter until softened & translucent. Add remaining marinade and saute' for 10 additional minutes.
